OBJECTIVES
Learn
to read and understand stories written in Latin.
Pronounce Latin correctly while developing listening and speaking skills.
Learn to write simple sentences in Latin.
Learn the basic elements of Latin grammar and review English grammar.
Learn some of the most common Latin mottoes, sayings and abbreviations.
Develop a basic understanding of Roman history.
Become familiar with the geography and civilization of the ancient Roman
world.
Become familiar with basic Greek and Roman mythology.
Build English vocabulary, especially through work with Latin derivatives.
Improve your ability to think and write creatively in English.
CLASSWORK/HOMEWORK
A short homework
will be assigned almost every night and occasionally over the weekend.

GRADING
I use
a raw grading system. To
determine a grade you simply add up all the points you have accumulated
(including extra credit) and divide by the total number of points
possible.
Homework
is usually worth 10 points.
Quizzes
are typically worth 10-20 points, but can be worth more.
Tests
and Projects vary from 50-200 points.
You and
your parents are able to access your grades on a secure site at any time by visiting
http://www.mygradebook.com
and logging on using a special classword and a personal password.
ATTENDANCE
Daily
attendance is imperative--we will be moving very quickly through the
material.
Students
are given three days to turn in makeup work due to absence. It is best
to turn it in as soon as possible.

A notebook pouch to hold your supplies
5 dividers labeled appropriately: grammar, history/culture, mythology,
vocabulary,
