This site may be worth a visit for foreign language students because the viewer can select from English, French, or Spanish captions. It does not do justice to the actual museum, though. There are panoramic virtual tours which give a "feel" for the museum without detail. The viewer must browse the collections as there is no index.
This site allows searching by artist, title, or keyword. That alone is worth a visit to see if a particular item is included. It does not include all aspects of the museum.
This site allows visitors to go up and down the gallery's halls and view works along the way. There is a floor plan from which the starting gallery may be selected. Virtual reality tours.

Index of American Design Includes watercolor renderings of American decorative art objects from the colonial period through the nineteenth century.
A collection of more than North Carolina art. There is a good search engine. There are many teacher's guides available with lesson plans. They come up when you search by topic. You can select the size of the art depending on whether you want speed or quality. Virtual reality tours available as well as "Shockwave" displays which allow the viewer to rotate sculptures for viewing.
