Introduction:
As you complete your Accounting course, you need to think
about the impact that the successful completion of the course will have on your
future. You have learned and practiced accounting, analytical, and
problem-solving skills that are of great value to potential employers.
You will take a test to determine your interests and style and
research the availability and desirability of jobs requiring your newly acquired
accounting skills. Also, you will incorporate these new skills and other
personal information into a resume.

The Task:
As you complete each task, you will (1) know more about
yourself; (2) prepare a resume; (3) analyze the accounting field; and (4)
research the availability of accounting jobs in a particular location.

The Process:
At the computer:
Read all directions before you click.
Before beginning, be sure to have copies of all of the
worksheets for reference. You may print them from the files if you are not
provided with copies of them.
- Go to the testing site and take the interactive test
consisting of 24 questions. You will need to access the web site www.jobhuntersbible.com/. You will go to "Take An Interactive Test."
Under Career Tests, choose Birkman. Then click on Princeton Review
Quiz. Go to Start TPR Career Quiz.
- Answer the questions on the worksheet. Be sure to key and
print your answers in complete sentences. Personal Interest and Style

- Go to the jobstar.org web site. Click on
"Resumes." Click on "What is the Right
Resume for Me?" Then click on "Functional." As you
read about the functional resume format, answer the questions on the
worksheet.
- As you answer the questions on the worksheet, be sure to key
and print your answers in complete sentences. Functional Resume

- Go to the jobstar.org site again. Click on Functional Resume (in purple under
"Samples"). Go to the "Sample Functional Resumes" and
click on "Objective Accounting Positions as Sales Coordinators,
Representatives, or Account Executives." Look over the sample
resume carefully.
- Assume that you have a B.S. in Accounting. Otherwise,
stick to the facts! Use the template file to help you prepare a

- Go to the Occupational Career Handbook
web site. Using the
A-Z Index, go to accountants. You should be able to access the site by
clicking on Occupational Career Handbook in the first sentence of this
bulleted item. You can also access it from Netscape if you prefer. The
web site URL is www.occupational career handbook.
- As you read through the information about accounting
positions, answer the questions on the worksheet. Be sure to use complete
sentences as you answer the questions. Accounting

- Go to the monster.com job listing site using Netscape.
You will not be able to access it efficiently through this web page.
- At the monster.com site, pick a geographical area. Find
a beginning accounting position that is interesting to you. Again, you may
assume that you have a B.S. in Accounting to assist you in making a choice.
- Using the worksheet as a guide, prepare a summary of the job
and its requirements. Include all the information that you can find out
about the job. For extra credit, see if you can find about information
about the company listing the job. Be sure to include the URL where you
found out information about the company to qualify for the extra credit. Job

Conclusion:
At the conclusion of this WebQuest, you will have
learned how to investigate career opportunities on the Web. You will have
learned about some current web sites that have pertinent information to help you
make career choices.

and interests and how they may impact on choices that you make in the future.
