Immigration
In this activity, you will learn about the greatest human migration period in the United States history as well as the events that took place at Ellis Island. You will understand why the United States is called the nation of all nations.

Native Americans in the Natural World
Many stereotypes exist concerning American Indians. Contrary to popular belief, not all Indians or Native Americans lived in teepees and rode on painted horses as they are depicted in many of the old western movies. Native Americans from different parts of what is now the United States lived in many different tribes. Each tribe had their own culture: customs, language, myths, and religion. In this WebQuest, you will read and learn about four Native American tribes from different parts of the United States: North, South, East, and West.

Opera WebQuest
Hey! Guilford County students and Music Teachers! The 1999-2000 school year marks the 10th anniversary of Opera in Our School partnership. We celebrate with Rossini's Opera "La Cenerentola" (Cinderella). In this WebQuest we will explore the synopsis of the opera, Rossini's Biography and a picture of the Dallas Opera's 1994 production.

Positively Trashy
In "Positively Trashy" students will: complete a trash survey," participate in a Town Meeting (desktop video conferencing), contribute to a recycling database, engage in "global classroom" keypal exchange. "Students will learn about the impact trash has on the environment as they record the amount of trash collected in their homes during a 24 hour period. The data will then be entered into a group database and shared with other participants in the project. Positively Trashy

Quilting Our Way Through Geometry
Do you have a quilt, afghan, or blanket that was made by a grandmother, a great-grandmother, or someone else special to you? It makes you feel special, doesn't it? Quilts are important for several reasons. They tell history. They are family heirlooms. Quilts even keep us warm.  Quilts also have many geometric qualities. Today you will venture into the world of quilting in order to learn more about geometry. 

Rainforests: Temperate and Tropical
There are two types of rainforest in the world - temperate and tropical. Temperate rainforests can be found in North America. Tropical rainforests are near the equator in Central and South America. Both types of rainforest are disappearing at an alarming rate. In this WebQuest you will explore the types of rainforests found in North, Central, and South America. You will compare and contrast the two types of forest and learn about the plant life that flourishes there.

South American Countries
Students will travel to South America via web sites and discover facts about one of the countries including the geography, current money conversion and today's weather. They will then present this information to their classmates using a poster that they have made.

This Land is Your Land
"This land is your land and this land is my land. It's OUR home! However, each year, Americans generate millions of pounds of trash..." During this project you will work with a team of students, to research the problem. After gathering information using the on-line resources at NC Wise Owl, you will download and play the Recycle Game with the goal of cleaning up the city within a budget of $200,000. Visit Washington D.C.
Our Nation's Capitol is an exciting and intriguing place. If you are lucky enough to visit there you will most likely leave feeling as if you needed more time to explore and understand what you have witnessed. Hopefully this WebQuest will allow you an opportunity to further enhance your knowledge about Washington, DC and a few of the many historical landmarks which make it one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
