II. INFORMATION AND INSTRUCTION TO REVIEW BEFORE MQ ACTIVITY
1. Go over the above vocabulary words. Include any additional ones that you deem necessary.
2. Review or go over the four parts of a map (title, key/legend, direction
symbol, scale).
(Note that the commodity of scale will not be significant for this activity.
Encourage students
to include it on their map, but it does not have to be representative of
true distance).
3. Provide notes to students about how to write a description for a
relative location.
(Visit the link page entitled students' notes
for elements that lend to writing a concise descrip-
tion. Model by writing a desciption for the relative location of your school
if one has not
already been provided.
4. Write the following question on the board for which students will
respond to in a journal
entry:
"Which is the most used type of location? Why?"
5. Visit the like page entitled rubric to aid in scoring students' work.
