North Carolina's #1 industry is Agriculture! You are going
to learn about some of the commodities produced in our state. Commodities
are materials or things instead of services like a health worker in the
service industry.![]()
With a partner you will research one commodity found in
your state. You will complete a scavenger hunt about your commodity. You
will take notes about your commodity. At the end of your research, you will
use your scavenger hunt findings and your notes to help you make a poster
explaining and illustrating your findings. Each group will present their
commodity to the whole class. With your classmates, you will put together
a book entitled: Goodness Grows In North Carolina.![]()

At the computer:
Read all directions before you click.
Click on Resources. Click on the links to view and print the scavenger hunt for your assigned commodity.
1. Click on Ag's Cool.
2. Click on Ag's Cool Commodities Page.
3. Find your assigned commodity.
4. Click on your assigned commodity.
5. Complete your scavenger hunt.
6. Go back and reread information about your commodity. Take notes on important details you wish to include in your poster and presentation.
In the classroom:
1. Use your Commodity Scavenger Hunt worksheet and notes to plan your poster.
2. Make your poster.
3. Plan your presentation to be giving to the class.
4. Present your commodity to the class.
5. With your classmates, plan the classroom's book, Goodness Grows in North Carolina.
6. Use a word processing program to write your part of the book.
