Plant Parts

Introduction:

Most plants have 6 basic parts. You will find out what they are and what they do for the plant. Then using that information, you will create a game or activity to teach someone else about plant parts.

The Task:

Identify and label the parts of a plant.
Describe the function of each part of a plant.
Create a game or activity using the information obtained about plant parts and their functions.

The Process:

At the computer:

1. Print out the Plant Parts Diagram.
2. Print out the Plant Parts Functions sheet.
3. Go to The Great Plant Escape Case #1 to find your answers.

In the classroom:

Using your plant parts and functions information sheets, create a game to help someone learn about plant parts and their functions. You may use any classroom materials normally available to you (crayons, paper, glue, index cards, etc.) plus anything you may want to bring from home. You may work individually or in pairs.

Evaluation:

• The Plant Parts Diagram
• The Plant Parts Functions sheet
• The Game or activity student or pairs created. Use a rubric to grade (to print the rubric, make sure your printer setting is on landscape).

Conclusion:

Students will have an understanding of the parts of a plant and what they do. They can then use the games or activities that they created to review this information or to teach another class about the parts of a plant.
