Introduction:
Pumpkins make everyone think of fall and fall holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving. But did you know that
pumpkins are healthy to eat? Do you know how long it takes a pumpkin
to grow? Did you know there are many different kinds of pumpkins?
Come into the Pumpkin Patch to learn more about pumpkins.

The Task:
- Use the internet to find and record information
about different varieties of pumpkins.
- Use the information from your Varieties of
Pumpkins chart to answer the Pumpkin Math Quiz.
- Read the Pumpkin Facts, and answer the Pumpkin
Quiz.

The Process:
Read all directions before you click.
- Print out the Varieties
of Pumpkins Chart, or use the chart the teacher has printed
out for you.
- Go to the Rupp
Seeds-Pumpkin Varieties page. Find your pumpkin group, then
your pumpkin variety under that group. Fill in your chart with
the number of days to grow the pumpkin, the weight of the pumpkin,
and the color of the pumpkin.
The weight will be a number or numbers with the pound symbol
beside it. It will look like this: 10-20#. This means the pumpkin
weighs between 10 and 20 pounds.
Be sure your chart is filled in completely. Use the up and down
arrows to scroll until you find the right pumpkin group and the
right variety.
- Take the Pumpkin
Math Quiz. Use your Varieties of Pumpkins Chart to answer
the questions.
- Read the Pumpkin
Facts.
- Take the Pumpkin
Quiz. If you are not sure of an answer, you may check back

Conclusion:
After comparing varieties of pumpkins, and
learning some pumpkin facts, you may want to learn more by reading
some pumpkin books. Check your school or public library for books
about pumpkins.
